Principal
Dear Riccardi Elementary School Families,
December is here! We are excited to be approaching the winter season and setting personal goals for the new year!
Now that we are at the end of the first marking period and students have received their first report cards, this is a great time to reflect and celebrate areas of success, and to set academic goals for continued growth. I encourage all families to maintain on-going, effective communication with teachers. If at any time you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher by e-mail. Please refer to the 24-25 Riccardi Family Handbook or the district website for our faculty & staff email directory, if needed.
A highlight of November was our much anticipated annual Veteran Appreciation Celebration on November 8th. I couldn’t be more proud of the staff and students for all of their hard work and dedication in showing our appreciation to our local veterans for their service to our country. Thank you to our student government led by Mrs. Pettit for planning and organizing such a great event! Our local veterans were honored and touched by our heartfelt program.
The PTA-sponsored Scholastic Book Fair is December 3rd – 5th. Flyers and information were sent home with your child. The Family Book Fair Night is scheduled for Wednesday, December 4th and will take place from 5 – 7 pm in the library. Thank you to our PTA for organizing this popular event!
Our annual 5th & 6th grade Winter Concert is scheduled for Wednesday, December 11th at 7:00 pm in the cafeteria. The snow date is Thursday, December 13th. Our student musicians will also perform during school on December 11th for students and staff at our Winter Concert Assembly.
Be sure to take a look at our calendar for more December activities. As a reminder, there is no PTA meeting in December. The next PTA meeting will take place on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
We would also like to share an important opportunity for parents to learn how to navigate the online world safely. Frank Guglieri, Director of Regional Safety Services at Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES, is hosting a free virtual seminar on internet safety on January 7th at 7 pm. This engaging session will focus on empowering parents to protect their children from the risks of uninformed online decisions while encouraging thoughtful and secure internet use. Don’t miss this chance to gain valuable insights and tools to keep your family safe online. Register online ( HYPERLINK "https://bit.ly/3Ok4Vui" https://bit.ly/3Ok4Vui) to receive the Zoom link and participate in this essential discussion!
Winter Recess is Monday, December 23rd through Wednesday, January 1st. Schools will re-open on Thursday, January 2, 2025.
I extend my most sincere wishes to you and your family for a holiday season filled with peace, health, happiness and all things great in 2025!
