Community Partner Invests in Saugerties Students

The not-for-profit organization is dedicated to encouraging community-wide philanthropy to help those less fortunate.

The singing star Sal Valentinetti, also known as Sal the Voice, was brought to Saugerties High School as a fundraising event to help support community outreach and exploratory learning initiatives. ”Investing in the talents of the future is a priority for us at Sawyer Motors,” said Sawyer Motors owner Bob Siracusano. “Some of the students we help today will become future leaders, teachers, engineers, and quite possibly Sawyer Motor employees, so we need to support them as best as we can.”

Proceeds from the event are supporting the school’s Backpack Program, which helps provide food for students with food insecurities; the SCORE Store, a recently created free store that offers students food, personal hygiene products, and clothing at no cost; and several other enrichment programs throughout the District.

“Saugerties is unique, I am so grateful to have Sawyer Motors award these monies that will benefit our students at many grade levels,” said Junior High School Principal Ginger Vail. “Our goal is to engage students in many different learning opportunities so they can find what truly interests them. The educators that were awarded these grants have phenomenal plans for our students.”
