Students at Riccardi Elementary School recently brought history to life through art!

Together, students in Grades 3, 5, and 6 created a hands-on art installation inspired by the Erie Canal.

  • Grade 3 crafted cardboard storefronts that lined the canal.
  • Grade 5 designed the canal and its locks from cardboard.
  • Grade 6 built milk carton boats ready to set sail.

Their work tied in with the statewide celebration of the Erie Canal Bicentennial and the voyage of The Seneca Chief, a replica canal boat honoring the historic waterways 200-year legacy. The students’ artwork was displayed when The Seneca Chief made a scheduled stop in Kingston on October 21 and 22. So exciting.
