Exploring the Science of Ice at Riccardi Elementary
Rebecca Mulford's class explored how water transforms into ice by creating fairy ice castles. Using recycled containers, the students added food coloring to water and left it outside overnight. After removing the containers, students observed that stirring the food coloring beforehand resulted in evenly tinted ice, while unstirred, the color remained separated.
Along the way, they also discussed the properties of ice, how single-use plastics can be upcycled, and the fascinating states of water—solid, liquid, and gas.

Grade 2 students in Gina Pellegri's class at Riccardi Elementary School have been exploring the fascinating journey of seeds! They learned how seeds use wind, water, animals, and even mechanical "explosions" to travel and find the perfect spot to grow.
Grade 3 students at Riccardi Elementary have been diving into the science of ice during the region's recent frigid temperatures! With overnight lows around 6°F, it was the perfect time for hands-on learning about freezing water.

The students of Riccardi Elementary School brought the sounds of the season to life during their Winter Band and Choral Concert! Families filled the cafeteria to enjoy an evening of festive music, featuring holiday favorites that had everyone feeling the joy of this special time of year.
